Clinic Faces Lawsuit after Allegedly Misdiagnosing Heart Condition

Louisiana Record reports that the family of a man who died from a heart condition is suing the local hospital that treated him. The family alleges that staff at the hospital misdiagnosed the patient's heart condition, and they have filed a suit against the clinic as a result. The plaintiffs are claiming the 55-year-old man, who suffered from hypertension and Hepatitis C, went to the emergency room complaining of stomach cramps and muscle aches and pains that staff diagnosed as the flu.

According to the family, lab results appeared to indicate that he was actually suffering from kidney failure, congestive heart failure and liver dysfunction; however, the staff focused mainly on his gallbladder. They believe hospital staff ignored the symptoms pertaining to the more serious heart problems.

Staff at the hospital conducted gallbladder surgery during which the man died. The patient's family is now suing for medical expenses, funeral costs and pain and suffering.

ER Doctor Sued in Malpractice Suit

The mother of a man who died from fluid in his brain after a doctor sent him home from a local hospital is suing for damages. She claims he diagnosed her son with vertigo and sent him home.

The patient later died, and the family believes it was due to the doctor's negligent diagnosis and subsequent treatment. They are now suing the doctor for medical malpractice and are seeking an unspecified amount for mental anguish.
